After shooting for three weeks in Italy we landed in Melbourne to be stunned by the authenticity of Grossi Florentino. The walls are decorated with wonderful murals from the Italian Renaissance, the food emphasizes seasonal produce and there’s a distinctly Mediterranean attitude to hospitality.
The restaurant has long been one of the best in the CBD and most credit its ongoing success to the charisma, work ethic, culinary skills and passion of its owner; Guy Grossi.
Guy’s father was in the restaurant business and now Guy’s son Carlo is also following his father’s footsteps. We asked them both what it takes to succeed in the pressure cooker of Melbourne’s fine dining scene and for their advice on how to enjoy a visit to this city. |
